Dear WBMS Band 6th Grade Parents,

The 6th Graders are doing an amazing job in class working on their pass-offs and on their winter concert music!

We were so proud of the performance at the Cluster Concert. Click below for a video of that performance!

Pizza Pass-Off Goal!

We will be throwing a pizza luncheon on December 17th or 18th for all 6th Grade Band students who complete 3 pass-offs from where they were at when we recorded their last completed pass-off this past week!

Please encourage your child to keep practicing and coming in for pass-offs on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Important - Purchasing New Instruments or Rental Upgrades

Parents/guardians who wish to purchase a new instrument or upgrade their current rental to an intermediate should contact the directors before purchasing or upgrading their rental. We will be more than happy to recommend a great step-up instrument that will serve them throughout high school.

Upcoming Events

  • Tuesday, December 16th: 6th Grade Winter Concert in the WBMS Cafeteria
    • 8th Period: 6:15PM - 6:50PM (After the performance the students and parents may leave)
      • Arrival Time: 5:45PM for 8th Period
    • 9th Period: 7:30PM - 8:00PM (After the performance the students and parents may leave)
      • Arrival Time: 7:00PM for 9th Period

Encourage Practicing!

It is necessary that the students practice at home as often as they can (we recommend every day for 15 minutes outside of class time) to ensure proper development in the beginning band stages. This is much more beneficial than practicing once a week or only on the weekends as this is not nearly enough time to develop. Frequency (every day) of practice is most important! Please remember that the band room is open every morning starting at 8AM for open practice - students are strongly encouraged to come down to practice!

Private Lessons!

A great way to get ahead in class is to take private lessons. Please send us an email if you would like suggestions regarding instructors that are local to the area.

Please send us an email for some suggestions of local teachers that can help get your child ahead!

Have a great week and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mr. Stroud
Mr. Stallings
Mr. Durden
