Dear WBMS 6th Grade Band Parents, We are so excited to welcome 159 new band students and parents to the WBMS Band Program! The instrument fitting process at the beginning of the year is crucial to the success of a great band year! We have been successful with this process for many years and our goal is to get the students on an instrument they will be successful at and enjoy playing. We hope to get the instrument selections out by Friday, August 15th, at that time you will receive instructions on how you can obtain an instrument. Please do not obtain an instrument until you receive the instrument selection letter. ***IMPORTANT—Each year students bring in brand new instruments costing $100-$300 usually purchased online (Amazon, Ebay, etc). These instruments quickly have mechanical issues. Unfortunately these instruments have lots of problems and students usually end up quitting because they are not successful. This is extremely sad and in most cases, the instrument caused the student’s problem. Even as a beginner, a quality instrument is important. Generally, discount and warehouse club stores’ instruments are not of good quality and can present numerous problems in various areas. In addition, most music stores refuse to repair these instruments. As a general rule, a new instrument purchase should cost a minimum of $500 if you are deciding to purchase. Rent to own programs usually costs on average $45-$55 a month.*** Here is a video of one of our 6th Grade performances from our winter concert last year! Alpharetta High School Band - what our former kids are doing!We are very fortunate to be the direct feeder for the Alpharetta High School Raider Band! The Alpharetta High School Marching Raider Band is busy learning their 2025 production, "Worlds Apart"! If you are at one of the Alpharetta High School Friday night football games this year, be sure to check out their halftime show and cheer them on!
