8th Grade Weekly Newsletter - Week of 8/25/25

Dear WBMS 8th Grade Band Parents,

The students are doing a great job in class continuing to improve on their instruments and music.

The students have their first major assessment in class on Friday, August 29th over the F Concert Major Scale. Please encourage them to practice this scale in preparation of their upcoming assessment. 

The band room is a busy place in the school with over 415 students passing through our band halls every day. ***We need to stock up on Tissues and Hand Sanitizer in the band room. If you are able, please donate to the band room some tissues and/or hand sanitizer.*** Thank you to everyone who has already brought in donations!

• WBMS Jazz Band Auditions - Brass/Woodwind Audition In Class on Thursday, August 28th
• WBMS Jazz Band Rhythm Section Auditions - Piano, Guitar, Drumset, Bass - Audition will be held in the morning on September 2nd - 4th - Please sign-up in the WBMS Band Room for an audition time.
• WBMS All District/All State Audition Form - Due Tuesday, September 9th
• WBMS Band Calendar

• WBMS Band Activity Fee - Due by Tuesday, September 9th

​Alpharetta High School Raider Band!

The Alpharetta High School Raider Band is continuing to work on their 2025 production "World's Apart"! Be sure to cheer them on during halftime at any of the home football games!

The Alpharetta High School Raider Band will also be traveling in October to Orlando, FL for a marching band competition at Oviedo High School. As part of this trip the band students will get to celebrate with a full day at Universal Studios!

The marching band students and directors cannot wait to meet all of the 8th Grade students and parents at 8th Grade Night!

Upcoming AHS Band Events

• Friday, September 5: AHS Band 8th Grade Night
• Saturday, September 6: AHS Marching Band Friends and Family Performance, AHS Football Stadium, Gates open at 7PM, Performance at 7:30PM!
• Saturday, September 20: Fulton County Marching Band Exhibition, Milton High School, Time: Alpharetta performs at 7:30PM! This event is free for all middle school band students.
• September 24: AHS Fall Band Concert, 6:30PM, AHS Auditorium
